Asbestos Management Survey
(Formerly Type 1 & 2 Surveys)
These surveys are required where there is no foreseeable need for demolition or refurbishment but where small works may still be conducted. It is a non-intrusive survey, the purpose of which is to identify the existence and level of Asbestos Containing Material within a property. This helps prevent people from disturbing the material so as not to cause a health risk. Sample materials may be taken at the time of survey to assist identification.
Asbestos Refurbishment and Demolition Survey
(Formerly Type 3 Survey)
These surveys are required when a property (or part thereof) is to be refurbished or demolished. A comprehensive sampling schedule is undertaken to identify asbestos types and quantities within the property. This is to ensure the safety of onsite personnel or others involved. This type of survey is particularly useful for tendering works for the removal of Asbestos Containing Material.
